About Margaret

I started my business in 1997 and have specialized in dogs and their humans from the very start. Pet photography is now a very popular niche but it was not well known when I started my business. Even now I still get odd looks when I tell people that I specialize in photographing dogs and their people.

I feel it is important to know as much as I can about my subjects so I may do a better job photographing them. To that end, I am knowledgeable about dog breeds, dog behavior, dog training and dog sports. This knowledge  is put to use in every photo session to make the owners and their dogs comfortable while I create wonderful images.

Teaching and coaching other photographers is something I love to do. In 2014 I was a platform speaker at Imaging USA on the topic of pet photography. I do webinars, workshops and one on one coaching. In 2017 my first book was published. Dog Photography: How to Capture the Love, Fun, and Whimsy of Man’s Best Friend is now available on Amazon,  https://www.amazon.com/Dog-Photography-Capture-Whimsy-Friend/dp/1682031721

Professional development has always been important to me. I have earned my Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). I am also a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) with PPA. I have won the PPA Photographer of the year award multiple times for competing in PPA print competition. Several of my images are in the PPA Loan and Showcase Collections.  I am a member of PPA, The American Society of Photographers (ASP), Wedding and Portrait Professionals International (WPPI) and the American Society of Media Professionals (ASMP) as well as a member and past president of the Dallas PPA.
